The digital platform Modemuze aims to inspire with stories about fashion, trends and costume-history.
Modemuze is an online fashion history platform where Dutch museums with a unique fashion and costume collection present their collections.
These museums often have fragile or damaged garments in their storage that no longer can be exhibited or only can be displayed for a short period of time.
"In what way can you place the archive inside of the museum, other than showing it on a traditional screen?"
Virtual & augmented reality brought together DIVRSITY, a young group of professionals with different ethnicities, interests and professional backgrounds (ranging from branding to software engineers and game developers) to work on this challenge for Modemuze.
CHALLENGE
How can you use vr or ar to show the piece of clothing as well as the different layers of meaning behind it? And can vr or ar give a multi-dimensional image that is user-friendly as well as visually attractive?
SOLUTION
We are proud to present to you the virtual reality gaming experience, Historic Tales.
Historic Tales is a virtual reality experience created for children from 8-12 years who visit museums with their parents or during a schooltrip.
We thought of a solution in our experience called Historic Tales were we focus on innovations in fashion. As soon as the user puts on the VR goggles, they enter a magical theatre were the historical garments are portals to travel into time. By playing minigames the user learns facts about the historical garments and their time-period in a dynamic environment. With this experience, we aim to educate the children in a fun and playful way.
VIRTUAL FASHION
At the centre of the experience were the historical garments, recreated with CLO3D to come alive. The story behind each of the garments is the starting point for the individual environments.
